Remove the Cabinet Doors

Use a screwdriver to remove the cabinet doors by turning the screws counterclockwise. Be careful when removing the screws, because you do not want to accidentally lose one. You will be using them to hang the doors back up later.

Add Painter's Tape to the Edges

Use painter's tape around the edges of the cabinet frame. Be sure that you tape off any area that touches a wall and any area that touches the backsplash in your kitchen.

Paint the Cabinet Frames

Use a bright farmhouse red color to paint the cabinet frames. Be sure that you take the time to cut into the edges of the cabinets with a small paintbrush so that you can get as close to the walls as possible without actually getting paint on them.

Transform the Cabinet Doors

Use a miter saw to cut out the center portion of the cabinet doors so that you are only left with a frame. Paint the new frame you created with the red paint and allow it to dry for a few hours. Use wire cutters to cut chicken wire to fit onto the back of the cabinet door frame. Use a staple gun to attach chicken wire to the backside of the door. Repeat the process with all of the other doors.

Finish the Job

Add polyurethane gel to all of the cabinet doors and the cabinet frame. This will protect the paint from being damaged. Replace all of the cabinet doors onto the cabinet frame by turning the screws clockwise with the screwdriver.
